speak to the Club about sleep disorders and how they are related to ear,
nose and throat problems. This is a common but disruptive problem -

Our own Pres. John Ratnavale will speak to the
Club about KISS Portfolio Management "Keep It Simple (stupid)" or the
application of common sense. An expert in financial management, John
will cover the six or seven types of risk that effect individuals,
corporations/foundations and their portfolios. He'll translate the
logic and process of Modern Portfolio Theory and generally present some
investment insights. No pitch, just education - a great talk! |

Our speaker will be Delmas Wood, Jr., on the life of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Mr. Wood has compiled an
extensive archive of facts, anecdotes, quotes and personal glimpses of the
32nd President of the United States. He's traveled to the President's
boyhood home, Hyde Park, NY and to the Little White House in Warm Springs,
Georgia in his dedication to authentic understanding of the man. In
the dress and character of FDR, he'll present the famous Declaration of War
speech against Japan, which Roosevelt delivered before Congress on December
8, 1941. Mr. Wood has delivered this speech at the "Olney Theatre" and
the landmark "Breakers Hotel" in Palm Beach. In all, the speech has
been heard by more than two million people. Mr. Wood is the owner and
director of "The FDR Living Museum" in Sandy Spring, MD.

Continuing our medical information series, courtesy of
Club member Shira Oler, Maria Chamberlain, RN, CDE will speak to the
Club on The Diabetes Epidemic. Maria Chamberlain was raised in
Washington, DC. She has worked as a registered nurse and certified diabetes
educator in the area for several years. She started her nursing career on
the diabetes unit at the Washington Hospital Center where she also achieved
her diabetes educator certification. She joined Suburban Hospital last year
in 2005, where she functions as the outpatient and inpatient diabetes nurse
educator. She has lived with Type 2 diabetes for over 22 years and uses an
insulin pump as part of her diabetes regimen. This will be a most
informative and useful talk - be there! |

Jim Leder will speak about the
Miracle
Baseball League. This is a proposed Kiwanis project to build a special
ball field for kids with disabilities including those on crutches or
wheelchairs. A DVD will be shown describing in more detail. This could be a
major project for our club. |
