President Jeanne Smith opened the meeting. Bob Gradle led the Pledge, Robby Brewer led in singing of God Bless America and Past President Ann Black led us in prayer. It was good to see John Beck, Ann Black, Richard Ruprecht, and Bob Gradle join us for our luncheon meetings. New member Stephanie McCabe returning to our club for the third time was inducted by Jim Leder, Scott Brewer and Robby Brewer. It is great to have her back with us.

Happy Dollars:
Lots of HD for Stephanie McCabe from members Bob Gradle, Ann Black, Robby Brewer, Scott Brewer, and Tracy Miller. Robby is leaving on a two-week trip to Australia and to visit his daughter who is attending the University of Queensland. Jim Leder HD to Gabe Albornoz for his work with the Miracle League and in scheduling the teams once they are organized. It was wonderful to have a very very full table at our lunch at Tragara.

Richard Ruprecht introduced our speaker Gabriel Albornoz, Director of the Department of Recreation.

Gabe Albornez received a B.A. in Communications from the University of Maryland and a Masters in Business Administration and Marketing Management from Johns Hopkins. A friend of Kiwanis, Gabe will also be working with The Miracle League in scheduling. The $1,500 will be spent on youth sports programs to purchase equipment and provide scholarships. The club was reminded that these public facilities are available to all county residents. Richard Ruprecht emphasized that as a parent and coach, he got to see how the County's Rec Youth Sports Programs brought families and communities together and provided opportunities for all kids regardless of their skills or backgrounds. |
