Meeting Date: January 7, 2010

President Jeanne Smith opened the meeting at Tragara's.  Tracy Miller led in the Pledge and George Patterson led in singing of God Bless America.  Bill Hague gave the prayer.

Announcements:

Former member Bob Vigderhouse was admitted to Sibley Hospital yesterday. He is on the sixth floor and visitors are welcome. On Thursday, January 21, we will be hosting a combined meeting with the Olney Kiwanis Club and other Division 17 members to kick off the Division 17 Fundraiser for the Miracle League Field.  The meeting will be at Christ Episcopal Church, 4001 Franklin St., Kensington, at 6:30 p.m.  We are hoping that those that cannot attend our daytime meetings will be able to attend an evening meeting.  We would like 100% participation.  Dinner will be provided for a fee of $15.  Contact Pat Tiede by January 19 at 301-493-6937 for reservations. We sang Happy Birthday for Debbie Van Horn. Tracy Miller, along with  Pat Norry who was previously inducted a few months ago, was inducted into the Board of Directors  by past Lt. Governors Jim Leder and Bob Cressy.

              Church at 6:30 p.m.  Dinner will be $15. This is Kickoff for Division

              17  fundraiser for  Miracle League.  

   

·          •January 25, Monday - Foundation Meeting  6:30 pm @ Ron Spratt’s home.

 

·          •January 28, Thursday –  Lunch Meeting - Tragara.

 

·          •January 30, Saturday - #3 Leadership Training- Mitchellville 9 a.m. 

George Patterson, President of the Kiwanis Club Foundation presents a check to Tracy Miller, representing the Bethesda YMCA for $4,000.  Tracy is the newest member of the Board of Directors.

Happy Dollars:

Jeanne Smith HD for Shira Oler who created a colorful packet for Miracle League fundraising.  All members should take a few and show them to friends/colleagues or mail to prospective donors.  John Ratnavale HD as he easily found a parking space.  Pat Tiede HD for Elinor Stoler who she visited a few weeks ago.  Elinor has her arm in a sling and misses all the members, another HD for Shira Oler and Jim Leder for the professional looking Miracle League packet. Bob Cressy HD for the New Year. Shira Oler  HD for Jim Leder who did much of the work on the Miracle League packet. Tracy Miller HD for Debbie Van Horn's birthday.   Pat Norry HD for Tracy Miller as the newest board member. Also for Shira Oler who is a talented flower arranger.  Pat won a flower arrangement from Shira in last year's Charter Night Silent Auction.  She finally asked Shira for the arrangement and was thrilled with the beauty and  how long it lasted.  John Walker HD for Bob Vigderhouse. 

Pat Norry won the 50/50 and donated it back to the house fund.

The Board of Directors held their monthly meeting following the luncheon.
