True leaders, all are past presidents and have served your club in many outstanding ways. Other board members inducted were Pat Tiede, Secretary and another past president, Jeff Morrison who is a new member of the board. Shira Oler is returning as a board member. Other board members for the new year (unable to attend this function) are: Jim Aylor, Vice President; Gary Boswell, Treasurer; Debbie Van Horn, Immediate Past President. Directors, Susan Kirk and Richard Ruprecht. There are two open board positions and anyone interested in serving should contact Jeanne Smith. Beautiful roses were presented to Pat Leder for her patience and perserverance while Jim attended many, many meetings for the Miracle League and for his term as President, to Jeanne Smith for her outstanding work in pulling the golf tournament together in one month, and to Pat Tiede for her total commitment to the club.

Pat Tiede was presented "The Leder Award" for her contributions to the club. The special award was created in honor of Jim Leder for his leadership on the Kiwanis Miracle League Field. Pat is the first recipient of the award. |
Happy Dollars:
Many $$$$ were flying after all the recognition given to Jim Leder for his passion for the Miracle League which started over three years ago at the Kiwanis Convention in Montreal. It is now a reality and one that will put Kiwanis on the map in Montgomery County. In addition Jim had a passion for our only fundraiser, the Golf Tournament and for 35 years he got the job done. Jim never took "no" as an answer. Many members recalled the hard work Jim has always put into the club starting with his first presidency in the '70's and his service as Lt. Governor in the early 80's. He's done it all through the years and always rises to the occasion. Other $$$$ given were for Pat Tiede who received the first "Leder Award." Pat joined Kiwanis after she met Ann Black at Houston's in 2005 and they discussed volunteering and service organizations. Pat became secretary a few months later and has held that position over the years. She is also currently serving as secretary to the Miracle League Trustees, the Bethesda Kiwanis Foundation, and as recording secretary under Marv Jackson for District Council Meetings. She is the editor of the Kee-Notes and maintains the website on a daily basis. Just recently the Bethesda Kee-Notes was judged to be the winning entry in this year's competition among entries submitted from the Potomac region. The award will be presented at the Mid-Winter Conference. Contributors to the Happy Dollars were Jeff Morrison, Al Gardenhour, Scott Brewer, Ann Black, Patsy Jackson-Hoop, Bernice Grossman, Bob Cressy, John Tyner, Ron Spratt, Pat Norry, Jeanne Smith, and Pat Tiede.
The 50/50 was won by Bob Gradle who returned it to the House Fund.
