Speaker:
Sue Kirk introduced our speaker Dave Feldman of Bethesda Green. Dave's background was in International Trade and he worked at the British Embassy for a number of years. He grew up in Bethesda and about a year ago was chosen to head Bethesda Green, a non-profit dedicated to improving the environment in Bethesda. At their kickoff one year ago they had over 380 people show up for the first meeting. They have placed about a dozen recycling bins in downtown Bethesda. In addition they also sponsored a day for people to drop of their old computers to be recycled, the last effort yielded over ten thousand pounds of used computers. Bethesda Green serves as a living model to sustain the current and future development of Bethesda by promoting energy efficiency, recycling, and a community-wide environmental ethic. Through their collective efforts residents, businesses, and government, it is their goal to make Bethesda a better place to live and work. An appropriate and energizing talk so close to Earth Day.
Pat Tiede won the 50/50 and donated it to the House Fund.
