President Debbie Van Horn opened the meeting with the Pledge, God Bless America and Sue Kirk gave a brief prayer.
Announcements:
Dick Ruprecht reported on the Walter Johnson High School Key club who sponsored a visit by senior citizens to the school for lunch. The students escorted each senior and talked with them and enjoyed lunch with music from the school band. Dick also announced the Walkathon for Homeless on the Mall this Saturday November 22. If you are interested in walking they will meet at the White Flint Metro at 7:15 AM. Jeanne Smith announced that the Blair High School Key club will install their 55 new members this afternoon. We have 18 people planning to attend the Annual Joint Rotary/Kiwanis Meeting next Tuesday, November 25 at Kenwood Club. Don't forget the YMCA Turkey Chase on Thanksgiving Day. We have several members who will be working as volunteers and even running! On Thursday, December 4, we will have our Holiday Party at Alfio's at 7 p.m. Bring a wrapped non-gender-specific gift not over $20 and watch the fun begin as we steal them back. Members should call Pat Tiede at 301-493-6937 to sign up. She will take checks at the door. On Sunday, December 7 2008. We will prepare and serve dinner at Children's Inn at NIH. Sign up for food to bring and be at NIH by 6 p.m.

HD for Jeanne Smith's new puppy Emiline who was a
guest at our meeting.
Dick opined that our club has finally gone to the "dogs". Dick also
had to pay a fine for the Pittsburg Steelers tie he wore and he had to
remind us about the score of the Steelers-Redskins game. Ben
Schesinger HD for his teaching stint of an upcoming graduate
course in energy policy at the
University of
Maryland. Pat Tiede HD for Miracle League Board Meeting and
for all the work Jim Aylor and Jim Leder have done on
this. Bernadeen Zivkovic HD for the Key Club students who will
be helping the YMCA at the Turkey Chase Race. Liz Quinn- HD for
all the work our newest member Bernadeen Zivkovic has done.
Jeanne Smith HD for our guest Emiline.
Our speaker was unable to attend and has been rescheduled for January 29, 2009. Bob Quinn won the 50/50.
