 Happy Dollars:

Dick Ruprecht –HD  happy that the debates are over, also happy for Hearts and Homes brochure that came in the mail. This organization provided the first house- Caithness House- for homeless kids in Montgomery County- started by Chet Caithness a Bethesda Kiwanis member. Scott Brewer and Bill Pennington have worked raising funds as former Bethesda Kiwanis club Presidents. Pat Tiede HD for Jim Lynch-former Bethesda Kiwanis member and soon to be Honorary Member who recently helped her with our website.  Bernadeen Zivokvic  HD for Stephanie MCabe at Hearts and Homes- Bernadeen has joined some colleagues from the YMCA who are helping with Christmas presents for the kids.  Bob Cressy HD for Dick Ruprecht and his work with Veterans Day celebration.  Also for his wife Nancy who joined the Potomac Club because it is too difficult time wise to attend our meetings.  She was elected the new secretary.

Scott Brewer was our speaker and related the reunion of his World War II 449th Bomber group. The reunion was held in Rapid City South Dakota near Ellsworth Air force base. Currently the B1 and B2 (Stealth) bombers are based here.  The 449th was based in Italy during the war and one day the colonel decided a newspaper was needed for the base and Scott was appointed to be an editor. Those days the paper had to be printed by the Italians- the only words the Italians spoke were "Cigarette Joe?”  It was a challenge to get the spelling correct. Scott brought several issues of the paper - amazing reading these stories from 60 + years ago. There were over a thousand men at the base - they suffered many casualties and POW's.

Our guest Claire Goldberg won the 50/50
