Bob Quinn HD for Jim Aylor for many hours of hard work with our golf tournament (GT), also HD for Dick Ruprecht  for GT work and for his twin brother who is bringing three foursomes. Scott Brewer HD for his nephew Robbie Brewer and grandson who rode bicycles along the C&0 canal in the pouring rain. Jim Aylor HD for Bob Quinn's work on GT.  Dick Ruprecht HD for Bob Quinn's work on GT.  Bob Cressy HD for Bob Quinn GT work, also happy that there has been no more attacks on US since 9/11. Bernadeen Zivkovic HD she is glad to be back and will be working on September 12 for the golf tournament.  Pat Tiede HD for Liz and Bob Quinn who have taken our biggest fund-raiser to new heights.

Bernadeen Zivkovic received a check for the Bethesda YMCA in the amount of $4,000. She reminded us that the YMCA is the biggest provider of day care in the country, our check is used to help subsidize this care for families who cannot afford it.

Speaker:

Shira Oler introduced our speaker Cindy Notobartolo. Cindy is the charge nurse at Suburban Hospital and is in charge of their emergency response. Since the attacks to our country on 9/11  the CEO of  Suburban, NIH and Bethesda Naval have begun to meet each month to plan for a joint response to an emergency. But the difference in  culture of the three institutions: Suburban a private hospital, NIH a federal research hospital and Bethesda Naval a military hospital makes co-coordinating care difficult. For instance doctors at NIH are not approved to provide care at Suburban or Bethesda Naval and vice versa. One of the biggest problems in any disaster is trying to communicate with everyone,  During the 9/11 attack phone circuits were overwhelmed.  Instead of big thick manuals they came up with flip charts to quickly identify what needs to be done.  The have had drills which are important to run in order to find out problems with plans and update them.  A very interesting and timely presentation.

50/50 was won by Jim Aylor.
