Treasurer Gary Boswell opened our meeting with the Pledge, singing of My Country 'Tis of Thee and John Walker delivered the prayer.
Announcements:
President Liz Quinn welcomed our guest Danielle Van Horn, a math and science major and daughter of Debbie Van Horn, and we were glad to see the return of Bill Pennington, Bob and Nancy Cressy, John Ratnavale and Ben Schlesinger.
Happy Dollars:
Ben Schlesinger HD for glad to be here and he spoke earlier in the day to the Kiwanis Club of Rockville. His speech was on energy. Nancy Cressy HD was for being a delegate at the convention in Orlando. Bob Cressy HD for a very well organized convention. There are excellent photos on the E Builder website. Bob Quinn HD for a great golf committee meeting and he thanked Shira Oler for organizing it. He asked members to meet at 2 p.m. at Tragara on Thursday, July 17 to canvass the local restaurants with golf brochures. Sue Kirk had a HD for Pat Tiede’s recovery from knee surgery. Bob Gradle HD for Pat’s recovery and for his beautiful new granddaughter Ellen. John Ratnavale is glad to be back and he’s moved into his new home. Debbie Van Horn HD to Ben Schlesinger for all he does for RICA. RICA is putting in a full page ad for our Golf Brochure. Shira Oler HD for Bob Quinn running a great golf committee meeting. Shira will be leaving for Israel on August 3 and she asked for our prayers. Pat Tiede HD for all the support during her 4 days at Sibley Hospital and her continuing recovery in physical therapy. Gary Boswell HD for Pat and for his participation with his son Jay in a football camp. President Liz Quinn HD for Pat and for Bob Quinn’s work on the golf tournament.
Liz Quinn reminded people that we would be serving dinner at Camp Friendship next Thursday, July 17—we need at least five participants. We will also be reading to the children at the YMCA Ayrlawn Building on Friday, July 18. Pat sold more Ducky Derby tickets.
Bob Cressy will be the guest speaker on Thursday August 21 with show and tell from the convention in Orlando, Florida. Please review the calendar for our summer meeting schedule.
Jim Aylor won the 50/50 (again) and used the proceeds to buy Ducky Derby tickets.
