Service Project

We need students and able bodied hands to help with this year's house in Silver Spring off of Randolph Road.  The family has three teenage children. The most important work involves skilled workers (plumbers, electricians..) We could also use help with some outside work of weeding, mulching and planting on Project Day. Service Project

The Carnival of Chocolates is being held this year at VisArts at Rockville Metropolitan Center for the Visual Arts. More than 250 guests enjoy a wide array of beautiful and creative chocolate confections donated by the area's top restaurants and bakeries. Exciting collection of silent and live auction items. Contact Richard Ruprecht to volunteer to pick up desserts and attend the event from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  We will be presenting a check to The Dwelling Place.

Our speaker will be Denis Lipman a seasoned creative and commercial writer with experience in advertising and theatre. He is partner in The Creative Shop, a DC advertising and promotion firm with clients from fast-food to airlines. He served as senior writer with a number of DC advertising agencies and is a prize-winning playwright, with credits in the UK and the US.

Community Event ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE at Woodmont Triangle in Bethesda.  10:30 a.m.  Wear red, white, and blue and support this event.  Kiwanis will present a wreath in memory of fallen soldiers.

Our speaker will be Todd D. Lamb, Executive Director for Maryland Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, a nonprofit, nonpartisan grassroots watchdog organization dedicated to educating the public about the costs and consequences of lawsuit abuse.  Previously, he served as Special Assistant to President Bush at the U.S. Department of Education from 2001 to 2004.  His presentation will point out that "we sue too much in this country."  Beverly Gough from Carol Jean Cancer Foundation will be present to update us on Camp Friendship and she will receive our donation.
