Serving the
Community Since 1945
Meeting Date: July 22, 2010
President
Jeanne Smith opened the meeting promptly at noon. Bob Gradle led us in
the pledge and singing God Bless America
and John Walker gave the prayer.
It was great to see John Walker at our lunch
meeting and guests, Dennis Reynolds, high school counselor from
Walter Johnson High school, Jacqui Joseph, winner of $1,000
scholarship for her essay written about her service to the community,
and her parents Jim Joseph and Jill Joseph.
 |
Receiving a mock-up of a $1,000 check
for a scholarship made payable to the College of Charleston is
Jacqui Joseph, graduating senior from Walter Johnson High School,
Rockville, her mother Jill Joseph, her father Jim Joseph,
and Richard Ruprecht, advisor to the Walter Johnson Key Club.
The competition was open to all seniors. Eight essays were forwarded
to our Foundation by the WJHS faculty as worthy of consideration, two
were picked as winners. Judging was difficult because all were
extremely well written and interesting. Jacqui will be majoring in
science and bio-chemistry. |
